Montage Hotels & Resorts
In January 2002, Warnick & Company advised on the creation of a new luxury hotel company,
Montage Hotels & Resorts. In conjunction with the Founder and CEO of the company, we
developed the business plan and rationale for the new brand and the initial capitalization
through a high net worth individual. We subsequently orchestrated the acquisition of the
company’s first hotel (then under construction). The
Montage Resort & Spa, Laguna Beach
opened in January 2003 to wide acclaim.
We have subsequently served in the lead role in indentifying five new opportunities,
overseeing due diligence, participating in the programming and concept development, structuring
the transactions, and negotiating all relevant documentation. They all include lodging and
residential components as well as significant recreational
amenities, and encompass well over $2 billion in total capitalization. Warnick & Company
has also overseen the placement of approximately $800 million in debt and continues to have
primary responsibility for financing.

Santa Ana Pueblo Indian Tribe
Warnick & Company advised the Santa Ana Pueblo
Indian Tribe in the creation of the first Indian-owned luxury resort, the
350-room Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort
between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico (www.Tamaya.hyatt.com). It remains,
today, the most authentic Native American resort asset, true to the Pueblo’s
culture and heritage and indigenous to its surroundings. Warnick & Company has
been involved as the principal advisor and asset manager of this highly acclaimed
resort since its inception in mid-1995. Our services included site selection within
the 73,000-acre Santa Ana Pueblo reservation, concept development and architectural
programming, feasibility, brand/operator selection, deal structuring, and contract
negotiation, development team selection (architect, interior designer, etc.),
financing, development oversight, and asset management. We are currently in the
process of financing and developing a major expansion including 150 new guestrooms,
a 20,000-square foot ballroom, and significant new recreational amenities.
